Suspected serial killer who hates women confesses to 1991 slaying of waitress

Serial Killer Confesses to 1991 Waitress Slaying
A convicted serial killer, serving a life sentence for a gruesome murder in Florida, has admitted to the killing of a waitress in 1991 due to his deep-rooted animosity towards women.
Michael Townson, 53, was indicted by a grand jury on Monday, October 24, for the first-degree murder of Linda Little, according to Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young.
In addition to the confessed killing in 1991, Townson has also acknowledged other murders in central Florida and Tennessee. These claims are currently under investigation, and as of now, no charges have been filed against him for those cases.
Townson conveyed to detectives that his profound aversion towards women stemmed from being sexually abused as a child by his father and grandfather. He asserted that his mother and other women in his life failed to protect him, leading to the development of his intense hatred.
Little, who was 43 years old at the time, vanished after finishing her shift at the Chart House Restaurant on the morning of October 11, 1991. Authorities revealed that Townson and Little had a chance encounter at a hotel bar, which escalated into a tragic event, according to Detective Dave Dinardi of the Daytona Beach PD.
Despite the absence of Little’s body, Townson provided specific details that convinced investigators of the authenticity of his confession.
During a news conference attended by Little’s sister, Wanda Henson, she expressed her gratitude to Townson for coming forward with the truth and forgave him. Henson also remarked on the mysterious ways of God and her prayers for closure being answered.
Townson’s confession about Little’s murder emerged in 2020 after his religious awakening behind bars and his transfer to a prison in Volusia County, the location of the murder.
Townson was previously convicted of bludgeoning his childhood friend, Sherri Carman, to death with a steel pipe and hammer in 2007 and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without parole for the crime.
